"Around the World in 80 Days" takes place in 1872. A well-to-do Englishman bets his nest egg that he can circumnavigate the world in 80 days. The plot turns on the International Date Line and the effects of the rotation of the Earth on time and travel. This is the best film that we have found to teach this subject. Viewers are also shown several cultures and their different attitudes towards the same events.
